How we write our guides
Every guide answers one real question that nonprofits, schools, daycares and houses of worship ask about grants, from the official sources only.
Official sources only
Every guide is built on the documents that decide the question: the agency's notice of funding or request for applications, its guidance and its announcements; for a foundation, its own website and its public tax filings. Each guide lists its sources at the end, with a link to each one, so you can read the original yourself.
Reviewed before it is published
A person on our team reviews every guide and approves it before it goes on this site. If a source does not say something, the guide does not say it either.
Dated, and kept current
Each guide shows the day it was published or last updated. Grant rules change from round to round; when a program changes, we update the guide or say plainly which round it describes.
What a guide is not
A guide is general information about a program. It is not legal, tax or financial advice, and it does not promise an award: the agency or the foundation decides. For your own organization, ask us.
Something out of date?
If a fact looks wrong or out of date, tell us and we will check it against the source.
Looking for something else?
We help with government, foundation and other grants. Tell us what you need.
